Puffy sticks

Another culinary masterpiece.  The well-known 'Puffy Sticks'.  Oh, you've never heard of them?  Cooked puff pastry (plain or the fancy alternative, with cheese) is all the rage at our place this year.  They are a big hit in the lunch boxes or warmed in the microwave for afternoon tea.

And I can hear you wondering - 'Wow, where did she get such a creative name from?'  Why, from my very own creative head, I have to admit.  Ahh - such brilliance ...

LOL. Trying to work up energy to bake something for lunchboxes right now. Just getting my husband to check the freezer for puff pastry for me....no, we don't have any. I'll have to file that idea away though, looks quick and easy.

we put grated cheese on the puff pastry sheets, roll them up, cut them into wheels and then cook them. However there isnt usually any left for lunchboxes.

We're going step by step here. We put cream cheese and vegemite and cheese inside, roll up, cut, and top with cheese. Voila. Cheesymite scrolls. A hit in the lunchbox last week.

My M.I.L cooks them the rolled up way with vegemite and cheese or with sugar/cinnamon and icing sugar on top. Yum!

We have added a very small spread of pasta sauce or left over salsa with the cheese. Makes it taste like pizza. Thanks for the reminder Jenny. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.

We have these as "Cheese Stars" in our house - they get cut out of the sheet with a star biscuit cutter. I find the cheese tends to all fall off so I use anything I can find in the fridge to spread on the sheet first as a sort of glue. The best was the week there was some onion jam but any sort of chutney, mustard or even apricot jam seems to work.
