Why Easter matters

Just having a little ponder about Easter today. Was disappointed yesterday when I realised that my 6 year old wasn't all that clear on the finer points of Easter. We're going to use the Resurrection Eggs (see the image) tonight and go through the Easter story.  It's sad that my kids haven't been kind of hammered with Easter in Sunday School and Scripture. I feel strongly about this one because Easter is the main game for me as a Christian.  It's the weekend where I am reminded of all that I believe. I do feel that we talk more about Jesus dying for us than we do about the resurrection.  But for me, if I'm going to invest a huge part of my thinking and time and money into something, I'd like to be trusting in a God who is alive. I grew up in a country where people worshipped statues and I could never understand how putting your trust in a dead rock that another person made would give purpose and comfort. Guilty mums

If you want to talk to a group of people who feel guilty talk to a group of mums.  They often discuss all the things they're doing wrong that make them feel like they are failing. If you want to witness an even more guilt-ridden group of women talk to CHRISTIAN mums.  I am one of these.  There is a lot  heaps of guilt flying around that group. Which intrigues me.  Aren't Christians supposed to be freed of guilt because Jesus died on the cross for them and so dealt with their sin?  There just shouldn't be so much guilt.  Surely there should be freedom and trust and rest in God's assurance of salvation. But in the last week three different people have asked me what we do with our kids and Bible reading.  Some families are very good at structured family prayers and Bible reading.  Ours, sorry folks, is not one of those.  So when people ask me (I am, after all, married to a minister) assuming I might have some pearls of wisdom to ...
